We have some exciting news to share with you today! FortiClient is now available for ARM64 architecture, expanding its compatibility and bringing enhanced security to a wider range of devices.
You can download the ARM64 version of FortiClient directly from the Fortinet Product Downloads page or from support.fortinet.com in the firmware download section.
Key Details:
- First Version: FortiClient v7.4.3 and newer will be published in an ARM64 version.
- Support Status: While ARM CPUs are supported from FortiClient 7.4.3 onwards, Fortinet officially labels this support as “Beta”. This is because full feature parity has not yet been achieved. You can find more details in the FortiClient 7.4.3 Windows Release Notes.
- Installation: There is a separate FortiClient (FCT) installation executable specifically for ARM, including a free version for ARM. For comprehensive documentation and fine print regarding installation, please refer to the FortiClient 7.4.3 Windows Release Notes – Installation Information.
- Free VPN Only Installer: To download the “ARM Free VPN-Only Installer” file on the support.fortinet.com portal, an EMS license is required within your FortiCloud account. This is noted in the Release Notes. So if you’d like to download the installation file for the FortiClientVPN, please download it directly from the Fortinet Product Downloads page.
- There is currently a small problem: During the Installation of FortiClient for ARM platforms, the error message “FortiClient VPN Setup Wizard ended prematurely” shows up and the installation is being rolled back.
- There are two solutions:
- Delete the file “C:\ProgramData\Applications\Cache\{15C7B361-A0B2-4E79-93E0-868B5000BA3F}\7.4.3.1790\FortiClientVPN.msi” and try the installation again. More information is available here.
- Another solution for this problem is to use the MSI installer instead of the EXE installation file. The MSI file is not available for download directly and needs to be asked for over the Fortinet Support or for our Resellers over the Boll Support department.
